It was worth dragging through Delirium for the second book. So many things happened! So many twists! While I was reading this I was literally gasping out loud and shouting “WHAT. Pandemonium is dynamic, edgy, and completely unpredictable. It’s yet another cliche this book falls prey to.īut then! In comes Pandemonium, and it’s like the author is freaking schizophrenic. This book also suffers a bit from the Twilight Mary-Jane syndrome– the main character is described as decidedly plain and normal and not particularly lovable and yet all the boys fall at her feet and tell her she’s a goddess. I loved every second, hated who Lena hated, loved who she loved, missed everyone she missed until it hurt. Pandemonium (Book 2) by Lauren Oliver (Summary taken from ) The old life is dead. It’s okay occasionally, but it happens so often in Delirium that it gets tiring. Pandemonium was emotional, but in a whole new and wonderfully powerful way. Everything was also super convenient for Lena– she just happens to get saved from danger about a million times by some conveniently placed character. The writing was still relatively enjoyable, but the whole experience was just dampened and much less entertaining because it was so predictable. And yep, bingo, everything happens as planned. You just know that Lena, who can’t stand the thought of the deliria, is going to end up meeting some guy and falling in love and then running away to join the resistance. But from the first few chapters, you can predict the entire book. I love dystopias and lots of people recommended this, so I was looking forward to it. Normally I review the books in a series separately, but these books are so radically different, I have to review them together.
